Waitrose Newbury is installed with a sprinkler system, serviced by a sprinkler tank pit to the side of the building.
Following a Health & Safety audit soon after being built, the method of access was instructed to be made safer and that the pit should be covered to prevent un –authorised access and weather ingress.
HVAC were commissioned to provide a turnkey solution to provide a safe means of access and build a new enclosure to match the side of the building.
HVAC designed a steelwork access ladder conforming to the latest regulations, together with a protection grid “lid” to protect the drop.
A range of builders work was completed, including the diversion of the fire escape slabs, groundworks, hand railing and landscaping, before HVAC fabrication works completed the install with composite powder coated metal panel works and door.
New lighting was installed and handover completed on time!
We were able to provide the client with a one stop solution – we provided all the builders and fabrication works together with electrics, all covered with full Health & safety compliance in an operating store environment.
Branch liaison was critical as well as satisfying the local planning requirements and achieving the programme dates set by the client and local authority.
Gavin Levett – Waitrose Maintenance Operations Manager wrote: “The branch manager expressed great delight in having such a courteous team of contractors working in his branch…the planning and communication was excellent, the sprinkler access area was left clean and tidy before they left each day”…”I have used the services of HVAC for many years, and for a number of different projects. The service they provide from design to completion are managed in a highly professional manner. They understand their customer requirements, and provide solutions to deliver a fully comprehensive package for their projects.”
